In, ‘Loving our kids on purpose’, Danny Silk advocates that
the heart connection a parent has with their child is the most important aspect
of parenting, much more so than getting children to ‘obey our rules’. He employs
a method of questioning children when they have a difficulty, as a way of
training them to solve their own problems. He bases this idea on God’s way of
relating to humanity; giving us choices and freewill. While Silk’s ideas seem
to be Biblical, more explicit exegesis wouldn’t hurt. However, this is a solid
and useful book for both parents and non-parents.
