Reflection on: Salvation by Works

I am saved by works. In fact, the only way to attain salvation in the eyes of God is by works. As evangelicals recoil in horror, I have a perfectly solid Biblical basis for this assertion; Hebrews 10:12,14;

"But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God ... For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified."

While scripture is painfully (and refreshingly) clear that my attempts at righteousness are as pure as a polluted garment (Isaiah 64:6), it is equally clear that works are required for righteousness. Those works are Jesus' works. As Christians, our salvation isn't founded on good-wishes or some pie-in-the-sky theory. We are not saved by faith, we're saved by Grace through faith. The grace in question is the work of Christ on the cross. Our salvation is based on an event in history, which bought sonship for sinners.
